The book offers a fresh look at the Edmund Fitzgerald’s final voyage\, the storm that claimed all 29 members of its crew on November 10\, 1975\, and the lasting impact of one of the most enduring tragedies in Great Lakes history. \nCopies of The Gales of November will be available for purchase in Maggie’s Ship Store. \nAdmission to the book signing is free.

The Museum is proud to announce The Gales of November: The Untold Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald (2025)\, written by award-winning journalist and author John U. Bacon\, as this year’s award recipient. Guests are invited to an intimate evening with the author\, featuring dinner and conversation centered on one of the Great Lakes’ most enduring maritime stories. Dinner will be prepared in part by students from the Freighter Culinary Academy and Chalkboard Kitchen. \nThis event has limited availability and you must be a Museum Member to attend.
