Join the Michigan Maritime Museum Friday, August 21st for our 5th annual Rock the Boat concert. Come rock out at an evening of fun, food, music, and dancing on the Museums waterfront campus. Proceeds benefit the Michigan Maritime Museum.
Back by popular demand, The 1985 Band will surely get you up on your feet and jammin’ to some sick beats. Featuring the best of what 80’s music has to offer, The 1985 combines lights, videos, costumes and more to create a totally immersive music experience.
A cash bar with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Beach chairs are welcome on the event grounds.

Event Grounds
Dust off your leg warmers, put on your dancing shoes and get into the groove with your favorite 80’s hits. You’ll have the time of your life, in front of the band dancing the night away. Bring your own beach chairs and enjoy the show from the Patrick Allkins & Jan Frizzo Family Event Grounds of the Museum campus. $25 per person (4 and under are FREE)
VIP Tables
Step back in time and enjoy an unforgettable night of music and nostalgia from one of our VIP Tables. Located under our Bosgraaf Point Canopy, these seats are perfect for those who want to experience the event in ultimate style and comfort. Seating for up to 8 people, each table comes with 16 drink tickets, fun and personal appetizers right at your table, a VIP backstage meet and greet with the band, and some righteous concert swag. $1,000 per table
VIB Experience – Very Important Boat
Elevate your Rock the Boat experience with exclusive access to the dock and deck of Friends Good Will, our stunning reproduction 1810 sloop. Designed for up to 15 guests, this private VIB package offers a one-of-a-kind setting right on the water.
Ahead of the event, our team will connect with you for a brief concierge call to tailor the experience to your group. Beer and wine will be stocked on board to your preferences, accompanied by a curated selection of elevated nibbles.
Throughout the evening, you’ll have our captain and crew at your service—offering informal tours, sharing stories of the vessel, and, of course, enjoying the music alongside you as the 1985 plays. While Friends Good Will does not have a direct view of the stage, you’ll still hear every note—and without question, no one will have a more memorable or distinctive place to take it all in.
Your VIB experience also includes full VIP concert access, complete with food and beverage, gift bags, guided opportunities aboard the ship, and museum admission prior to the show.
